Using the heater control5 steps
The Webasto digital control has a dial you turn and press, and a quick-start button. The 12V button on the Clayton unit must be on.
- Quick start. Press the quick-start button. It lights green and the heater starts with your last settings. Press it again to stop.
- Or use the menu. Turn the dial to the heating symbol and press to select it.
- Set the temperature. Turn the dial to the temperature you want and press to confirm.
- Set how long. Turn the dial to choose the running time and press to confirm. The heater starts.
- Give it a few minutes. The heater runs through a start-up cycle before warm air comes through. When you switch off it keeps blowing for a short while to cool down. That is normal, so leave the 12V on until it stops.
The heater burns a small amount of diesel from the van's own tank and uses only around 14 to 29 W of electricity for its fan and pump, so it can run all night on very little battery.
Heater fault codes5 checks
If the heater stops, the control shows a code. These are the ones you are most likely to see on the Air Top 2000 STC.
Repeated start attempts pump fuel into the heater without burning it. The lockout stops that building up, which is why it needs a deliberate reset and not another press of the button.
Looking after the heater5 checks

A little regular running keeps a diesel heater healthy.
Diesel heaters burn cleanest when they run hot. Short runs and long idle spells leave soot behind, and a monthly 15 to 20 minute run burns it off before it builds up.
